Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
Welcome to the City of West Palm Beach’s first electric charging stations!
In 2011, through U.S. Department of Energy, Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant funds the City of West Palm Beach purchased and installed seven electric vehicle charging stations. Two of these charging stations are open to the public, free of charge. These chargers are located on the third floor of the Clematis Street Garage located at Clematis Street & Quadrille Boulevard. Four chargers located on the 5th floor will be available for public use 9AM to 3PM when not in use by the City Fleet vehicles. An additional dual charger was installed in 2015 through funds from an Energy Performance Contract. It is located in the City Center Garage at Banyan Street and North Dixie Highway and is also free and open to the public.
Electric Vehicle Charging Station Specifications The Coulomb Technologies chargers are networked by ChargePoint®. They provide 7.2 kW (208/240 V @ 30 A) Level II charging. Drivers access and energize the station using a ChargePass™ card or RFID credit card. The station’s highly visible display guides drivers with instructive messages and can be used to display custom advertisement or greetings for drivers. Intelligent Power Control Ensure power is delivered only when a driver is authorized and the EV cord is properly inserted. Integrated Fault Detection • Ground Fault Detection: Integrated ground-fault detection circuitry with auto retry and driver notification. • Over-Current Detection: Disconnects power to prevent nuisance breaker trips at service panel. Auto retry and driver notification. • Plug-Out Detection: Algorithm disengages power and notifies the driver when a plug is removed. New to EV Charging Stations?
Follow these 4 easy steps below to start charging your EV
Step 1: When you pull up to the EVCS check to make sure it is not in use by another vehicle.
Step 2: There are 3 ways to access the EVCS: ChargePass Card, RFID enabled credit card, or call 1.888.758.4389. Since the charging stations are free of charge your credit card will not be charged by accessing or charging your vehicle.
Step 3: Once the station has been activated through step 2, a light will illuminate around the plug/holster, press the button on the top of the handle and remove the SAE J1772 connector and plug it into your vehicle.
Step 4: When you are finished charging tap your ChargePass Card or RFID credit card on the station’s reader symbol and the station will display a message indicating that the charging session has ended.
To locate these and other charging stations and see current availability for charging visit the ChargePoint Network.
