WPB Has Eclipse Fever Thanks to the Mandel Public Library!
The Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach gave away 5,000 verified solar eclipse glasses this week to our local community.
The glasses were FREE for library cardholders and new patrons could easily sign up for their free glasses too. The library received the eclipse glasses from a program by The National Center for Interactive Learning at the Space Science Institute. While initially on the waitlist for glasses, they shipped out just in time! West Palm Beach has got eclipse fever and there were none to be found anywhere around town except for the Mandel Public Library. The library gave out all 5,000 eclipse glasses in just under 16 hours and signed up 1,003 new library card holders in that time. The glasses are all out now…but the library was thrilled to be able to help so many people and to be a resource for our WPB community. To see more photos of WPB Eclipse Fever:
In addition, on Monday, August 21, the Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach will transmit a live internet feed of the total solar eclipse happening along a path in the U.S. from Oregon to South Carolina. Those interested in seeing the east coast total eclipse, or concerned about safe viewing can watch the transmission in the library auditorium from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
