Friday with the FRIENDS Book Club: A Brown-Bag Lunch Event @ your City Library
Date: 02-14-2014 Starting Time: 11:30 am
Join us for some book chatter at 11:30am followed by a moderated book discussion with Tina Maura, the library's book goddess. For the month of February the book to be discussed is "The Last Policeman" by Ben H. Winters. Description: What would you do if you knew the world was coming to an end? With an asteroid on a collision course with Earth, suicide is rampant and millions around the globe walk away from their jobs to pursue their bucket lists. Crops rot in the field and cell phone towers fall into disrepair as the economy spirals downward. Despite the seeming hopelessness - or perhaps because of it - Hank Palace, a recently promoted homicide detective, is keeping his nose to the grindstone. In this surprising mystery, he's out to prove the dead body found in a local McDonald's isn't the suicide everyone else wants to believe it is, but murder. The book club is a brown-bag lunch event. Bring your own lunch or purchase lunch before you arrive from any downtown Merchant. This event is free and open to Friends members and the public. All are welcome! Sponsored by the FRIENDS of the Mandel Public Library. For more information please call 561-868-7701.
