Before The Storm

Know Your Risk:
Is your business in a flood zone?
Is your building vulnerable to high winds?
What about an employee communication plan?

Review Insurance Coverage:
Inventory & photograph equipment.
Copy insurance policies.
Obtain Business Interruption Insurance.

Take Precautions
Protect windows & doors. Brace double entry doors at the top and bottom.

Check and fill fleet cars with gas.

Get cash to operate. No power means no banks, credit cards or checks.

Back up all of the computer data - store copies off site.

Cover equipment with waterproof plastic.

Turn off electricity, water & gas.

Let employees, customers & vendors know your continuity plans.

After The Storm
Have business ID - You may need it to get through checkpoints.

If flooded, have inspector check electric before turning on breakers.

Check for gas leaks BEFORE striking matches or lighting candles.

DO NOT connect generators to building wiring.

Plug computers & equipment directly into generator.

Photograph all damage / save repair receipts for insurance.
