Flood Warning System

Palm Beach County Emergency Management in coordination with the National Weather Service relays updates of threatening weather to government and media outlets. Thereafter, these advisories are broadcast on local radio, local television, cable news and the cable weather channel.

In addition, you may register on the City's main web page for emergency notifications. The City has instituted the CodeRED Emergency Notification System - an ultra high-speed telephone communication service for emergency notifications. This system allows us to telephone all or targeted areas of the City in case of an emergency situation that requires immediate action. The system is capable of dialing 50,000 phone numbers per hour. It then delivers our recorded message to a live person or an answering machine, making three attempts to connect to any number.

When Flooding is Predicted: Be prepared. Have battery operated flashlight, radio and television in working order. Have a small bag of essentials ready in case of evacuation order. Know your evacuation zone and route to shelter. Listen for flood warnings, and heed notices to evacuate. Flood Warnings will also be posted on the City's EOC Website. And above all, remain calm.

For hurricane information, you may access the City Hurricane Guide as well as current forecasts at the city's EOC website, located at www.cityofwpb.com/eoc/hur.php.
