Ensuring a culture of ethical behavior is an ongoing initiative at the City of West Palm Beach. The City is committed that all full and part-time employees complete the training. The training includes defining ethics, learning to use an ethical decision making model, and understanding how employees' every day decisions build an ethical organization.
"The ethics training provided by the City was both informative and thought provoking. We were presented with real-life ethical situations which made us realize that we must always think before we act. Members of the public hold government employees to a higher standard and ethics training ensures that those standards are met." Wendy Hensley, Legal Secretary, City Attorney Department.
"I just wanted to thank you again for the Ethics Training Workshop conducted on 5/10/07. It has proven more useful than I initially thought it would be. Leaving the training session we were given the charge to take the examples and the knowledge we had learned, and apply it to potential ethical dilemmas that may arise in our everyday jobs. The Ethics Training Workshop provides employees with a "decision-making framework" from which they can work when faced with ethical dilemmas." Chris Hoops, Zoning Technician, Construction Services Department.
