The purposes of the City's Respect Training are to ensure our employees are treated with dignity and respect and to learn how to embrace our differences. The training includes linking diversity with respect, identifying the effects of harassment, and learning practical guidelines to prevent all forms of harassment.
"The "Respect Training" provided a clear common language for addressing cultural diversities, simultaneously providing the ingredients to create a respectful work environment. It is essential for employees to understand the responsibility of how to reduce conflict, improve productivity, increase morale, and welcome each others differences." Khalilah Hightower, Secretary, Public Utilities Department.
"In reference to the Respect Training video, it brought out the point no two people are alike. Regardless of our beliefs, we all would like to be treated with respect. The sexual harassment video stressed the point we need to act professionally while at work. You may make a remark that you think is funny or cute, but it may be offensive to another." Doug Robertson, Building Inspector, Construction Services Department.
