NORTHWOOD HILLS 2009 “Legends of the Past” HISTORIC HOME TOUR
Sunday, February 8th from 2 to 6
On this year's tour 10 beautiful homes are open, including the "Generation Renovation" home featured on HGTV.
Tasty hors d’oeuvres at several of homes will be provided by local West Palm Beach and Palm Beach Restaurants.
Also, three restaurants from the Northwood Business District – Sunset Bar & Grill, Allora and Jade are culinary sponsors,
Molly’s Trolley will provide transportation along the tour route to make it easier for those who prefer not to walk.
The tour will end with desserts at the home and gardens of Jim Ponce, Palm Beach’s Town Historian.

Pricing: Tickets are $25.00 if ordered in advance, and $30.00 on the day of tour.

Max Planck Society Science Tunnel at the South Florida Science Museum
January 16th - March 29th
The Science Tunnel, a sophisticated, interactive multimedia exhibition, offers visitors a fascinating trip into the realm of scientific discoveries. Spanning more than a half-mile, the special exhibition features video stations and hands-on exhibits designed to spark engagement and curiosity among even the youngest minds. Visitors can observe dancing atoms and molecules at work; discover the roots of human culture; fight a virus before it infects the body; or race through the city of Tübingen, Germany on a bicycle at the speed of light.
The Science Tunnel hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays, and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for children ages three to 12. Prices also include access to the South Florida Science Museum. $2 additional for audio tour rental.

STATE OF THE CITY ADDRESS 2009
Even with the troubling economic times facing our area, City of West Palm Beach Mayor Lois J. Frankel had plenty of good news in her annual State of the City address. Mayor Frankel highlighted a major drop in crime, announced a new Sustainability Summit and spelled out plans to help stimulate the local economy. Using the theme “Working Together,” the Mayor stressed the importance of alliances among the private, public and non-profit sectors of our community in order to sustain a good quality of life here in South Florida.
