May 24, 2007 - There is just one week left for residents to take advantage of the City of West Palm Beach’s “Amnesty” program, a highly-successful yard waste removal project. Between now and June 1st, 2007, City residents can place as much yard waste and vegetative debris at the curb as they like, and the City will pick it up and remove it FREE OF CHARGE.

May 22, 2007 - The City of West Palm Beach Commission has revisited the issue of storm shutter regulation, voting to repeal a recently-passed City ordinance setting rules for when and how long shutters could be in place on occupied residences. Commissioners called for further discussion on the issue.
Commissioners recently enacted an ordinance establishing guidelines for when shutters could be in place on occupied residences, but decided to repeal that ordinance. The Commission will be scheduling a workshop to discuss the issue and possibly propose new regulations or a new ordinance.

May 22, 2007 - City of West Palm Beach Commissioners voted to slightly amend the current water-use restrictions, following the guidelines set forth by the South Florida Water Management District and bringing the City in line with the rest of Palm Beach County. The City had been following a modified version of Phase 3 water restrictions, which were more stringent than the rest of Palm Beach County. Under the new restrictions, West Palm Beach water customers get one hour more of lawn watering time per week.

(05/21/07) - All City of West Palm Beach offices, including City Hall, will be closed in observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 28, 2007.
Residential garbage, yard waste, commercial garbage, and recycling materials will all be picked up according to the normal collection schedule.

05/17/07 - The award-winning Dreyfoos School of the Arts Debate team will be recognized by the City of West Palm Beach Commission and by Florida State Supreme Court Justice Barbara J. Pariente at a special ceremony on Monday, May 21, 2007 beginning at 5:00 P.M. in Commission Chambers at West Palm Beach City Hall.
The debate team recently won the 2007 National Public Policy Forum National Debate Champions Award, the second consecutive year the team has won this award.

05/18/07 - Motorists should be aware of the following road closures:
I-95 southbound at Australian Ave. will undergo a complete closure for Bridge demolition, 9 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday night, May 20. Motorists may detour via Okeechobee Blvd. to Belvedere Rd.
I-95 northbound at Australian Ave. will undergo a complete closure for Bridge demolition, 9 p.m. until 5 a.m., Monday night, May 21. Motorists may detour via Belvedere Rd. to Okeechobee Blvd.

05/10/07 - There are still a limited number of spaces available on the fascinating “Wonder of Water” tour to be held this Saturday, May 12, 2007, beginning at 9:00 A.M. This free tour of the City’s water system begins at the Grassy Waters Preserve South Side Nature Center, located at 8537 Northlake Boulevard.
