City Honored with “Livability” Award by US Mayors

June 25, 2007 – City of West Palm Beach Mayor Lois J. Frankel is proud to announce that the City’s “Kaleidoscope” educational program has been recognized with a “2007 City Livability Outstanding Achievement Award” by the U.S. Conference of Mayors and Waste Management. Given at the 2007 annual conference in Los Angeles, the award recognizes mayoral leadership for developing and implementing programs that improve the quality of life in America’s cities.
City Closings, Schedule for Independence Day

06/25/07 – All City of West Palm Beach offices, including City Hall, will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, 2007 in observance of Independence Day.
The City Commission meeting scheduled for Monday, July 2, 2007 has been cancelled.
Residential garbage, yard waste, commercial garbage, and recycling will all be picked up according to their normal collection schedule.
Right Turn Lane Work

06/22/07 – Please be advised Palm Beach County will begin construction to extend the right turn lane on the west approach of Northlake Blvd at Beeline Hwy, on Monday June 25, 2007.
Construction will be performed outside peak hours to minimize impact to the motorists, and should only affect the outside lane. Intermittent closures may be necessary. Construction should be completed within two weeks, weather permitting.
City Continues Restoring Wilderness Park

June 19, 2007 – City workers are continuing renovations and upgrades to Apoxee (pronounced uh-po-ee) Park, a wilderness area set aside for preservation, environmental education, and public enjoyment. City crews have been treating and eradicating more than 75 acres of invasive and damaging vegetation, helping restore the park’s natural ecosystem.
