Thousands of Local Kids Get Free School Supplies

Jul 26, 2007 - Mayor's Office

07/26/07 – Mayor Lois J. Frankel and the City of West Palm Beach are partnering with “Urban Youth Impact” to help deliver free school supplies to thousands of local children. Kids will be able to pick up the supplies at the “Back 2 School Blast” on Saturday, July 28, 2007 from 8:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the Urban Youth Impact facility at 2823 N. Australian Avenue.

This annual event helps local kids prepare for the school year by offering thousands of free backpacks loaded with school supplies. Kids can also get free health exams, referrals for free immunizations, and haircuts to get them ready for the classroom.

The event will also feature live entertainment, bounce houses, face painting, food, and more. More than four thousand people attended the Back 2 School Blast in 2006.
