(03/10/09)  Mayor Lois Frankel and area business leaders will continue to engage local businesses and form an economic survival plan as they tour Rybovich on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at 11:00 a.m.  Rybovich is a super-yacht marina and refit facility located at 4200 North Flagler Drive in West Palm Beach.

This is the second in a series of tours of local businesses so that local leaders can hear the concerns and ideas of business owners and help them formulate economic survival plans.

The City of West Palm Beach has joined with the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches, the Business Development Board and Workforce Alliance to help local businesses survive the current national economic climate.  By using the combined resources of these organizations, businesses can gain access to a variety of enhancements including labor resources and worker training, assistance in applying for state and local business incentives for nonretail companies, identification of area vendors and suppliers, networking with corporate executives and government leaders, access to research and statistics and more.

WPB GreenMarket Celebrates St. Patrick’s Day

The West Palm Beach GreenMarket will celebrate the greenest of all days, St. Patrick’s Day, on Saturday, March 14 with green Shamrock fun for its market patrons:

Guests to the West Palm Beach GreenMarket this Saturday will receive St. Patrick’s Day Shamrocks with purchases at every vendor.  The more dollars guests spend at each vendor throughout the market, the more lucky green Shamrocks they will receive.  Once they are done shopping, guests can redeem their green Shamrocks at the “Luck of the Irish” merchandise tent located at the intersection of 2nd Street and Narcissus Avenue.  Here guests can redeem their Shamrocks for gifts in the “GreenMarket Pot O’ Gold” including T-shirts, coozies, shopping bags and more!

Guests are also welcome to bring their canine friends to the West Palm Beach GreenMarket on St. Patty’s Day to receive a treat from the Lucky Leprechauns.  Guests are reminded to keep their dogs on a leash and to cool off their four-legged friends with some filtered water at the market’s Thirsty Pup Zones.

Road Paving near CityCenter

(03/09/09)  Motorists should be aware of the following road closures in downtown West
Palm Beach due to road paving work adjacent to the CityCenter project:

On Tuesday, March 10, 2009, Dixie Highway will be closed between Banyan Boulevard and
Clematis Street from 6:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, March 11, 2009, Clematis Street will be closed between Dixie Highway and
Quadrille Boulevard beginning at 6:00 a.m.  The road will reopen no later than 5:00 p.m.  later that day.

On Thursday, March 12, 2009, one northbound lane of Quadrille Boulevard will be closed from Clematis Street to Banyan Boulevard beginning at 6:00 a.m.  The road will reopen no later than 5:00 p.m.

West Palm Beach Battle of the Bands

Calling All Bands! The City of West Palm Beach Department of Parks and Recreation is holding a Battle of the Bands at South Olive Community Center. The event will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. The deadline for band applications and demos is March 31. Band members must be 12 – 20 years old.
