Nights in Northwood Village will celebrate “new beginnings” this Friday at the Art & Wine Promenade starting with a special tribute to Bill and Jeanne Martin. Their dedication to our community has been instrumental in the growth and improvement in the northend of the city and especially in Northwood Village. This positive growth is evidenced this week by three grand re-opening celebrations and the grand opening of This Is It Cafe.

At 5:30 p.m., under the arbor in front of 525 Northwood Road, Commissioner Molly Douglas will read the Proclamation and give the Martins a custom-designed key to the Village created by local artist, David Alfonsetti and a fused glass star by local artist and Northwood Village merchant, Karen Campbell.

Following the tribute, celebrations will take place for three grand re-openings. These businesses received merchant assistance grants from the West Palm Beach CRA to improve and grow their business. The ceremony schedule is as follows: 6:00 p.m – Supe’s Jamaican Restaurant at 517 Northwood Road; 6:15 p.m. – MirJean Island Cuisine at 428 Northwood Road in Northwood Court; 6:30 – Mo Betta Braids & Things at 428 Northwood Road in Northwood Court.

The formal celebrations will culminate at 7:00 p.m. with the grand opening ceremony for This Is It Cafe, at the corner of 24th & Spruce, established by the same family that brought us the West Palm Beach landmark, This Is It Pub . The celebration includes complimentary hors d’oeuvres and refreshments, live music and an art exhibit by Kim Neilson and Joseph LaPierre.

All of these special events will take place during the Art & Wine Promenade from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. featuring boutique wine tastings, live music by Monkey See Duo, Davis & Dow and Jazz Elite, and streetside artist trunk shows.
