Spencer Drive Detour

When: Beginning Thursday, April 29, 2010
Affected Area: Spencer Dr. from Okeechobee Blvd. to Palm Beach Lakes Blvd.
Due to ongoing improvements on Spencer Drive, motorists should be aware of the following:
Spencer Drive will undergo a complete closure between Vandiver Drive and South Sequoia Drive beginning the evening of Thursday, April 29, 2010. The road will reopen on Saturday, May 1, 2010. The road will be closed to through traffic during this time.
Through traffic should detour using Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard and Okeechobee Boulevard. Vehicles using Spencer Drive will be detoured via Vandiver Drive and South Sequoia Drive.
The closure has been coordinated with the schedule of Cardinal Newman High School, which had not been planning to hold classes on Friday, April 30, 2010.
All residents, all businesses and their customers will continue to have access to their destinations along Spencer Drive during this process.
Mayor to Drum Up Votes for WPB

City of West Palm Beach Mayor Lois J. Frankel will be drumming up votes for WPB by encouraging library customers to vote for the City in the Google 3-D map competition on the West Palm Beach library’s fourth floor on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at 10:00 am.
West Palm Beach is one of five finalists in the world, and the only finalist in North America, in the Google competition. There are only a few more days to vote– you only have until the end of April to cast your vote for West Palm.
The 3-D map was built by area resident Chris Sardinas, who is a student at the University of Central Florida. Also at the 10:00 event, the Mayor will host a brief on-line chat with Chris via Skype.
New Business Creating Jobs, Investing in Northwood Village

The grand opening of “Relish,” a new restaurant in Northwood Village that is creating 26 jobs and benefiting the local economy, will be one of the many highlights of the Northwood Village Art and Wine Promenade on Friday, April 23, 2010. The ribbon cutting of Relish takes place at 6:00 p.m. at the corner of Northwood Road and Dixie Highway; the Art and Wine Promenade is from 6:00-10:00 throughout Northwood Village.
The owners of Relish have already invested $500,000 in the local economy through renovating their restaurant space. They are creating 26 jobs in the community.
Earth Day Event & World’s First e-Source Center

Join the President of the National Green Energy Council-Ralph Avallone, The Head of Italian Trade Commission Clean Technology-Claire Servini, A host of Internationally recognized eco scientist/engineers/pioneers, green business developers and investors, Mayor Lois Frankel and hundreds of supporters for Earth Day 2010 and for the grand opening of the world’s first e-source center. There will also be a green products exposition featuring dozens of businesses and hundreds of eco-friendly products.
The event will take place at 10AM on the West Palm Waterfront great lawn and will proceed to the e-source center located just a few feet away at 1 (One) N Clematis.
THE ESOURCE CENTER OF IS A COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND RESEARCH CENTER FOCUSED ON PROMOTING ENERGY EFFICIENCY, RENEWABLE ENERGY SOLUTIONS AND ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP. Sunfest 2010 Information

Affected Area: Flagler Drive in downtown WPB
Residents and visitors should be aware of the following information related to Sunfest 2010:
Northbound Flagler Drive will be closed to traffic from Lakeview Avenue to Banyan Boulevard beginning Wednesday, April 21, 2010.
Flagler Drive will be closed to traffic in both directions between Lakeview Avenue and Banyan Boulevard beginning Saturday, April 24, 2010.
The middle and south docks in downtown WPB will be closed beginning Wednesday, April 21, 2010 for Sunfest setup. The north dock will close on Monday, April 26, 2010.
Southbound Flagler Drive is expected to reopen no later than 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 3, 2010. Northbound Flagler Drive is expected to reopen no later than Wednesday, May 5, 2010.
The public will have limited access to the Waterfront Commons beginning Saturday, April 24, 2010. The nightly light show will be suspended beginning Saturday, April 24, 2010. The Waterfront Commons will be open, the docks will reopen and the nightly light show will resume on Wednesday, May 5, 2010.
