Isaac Robinson, Jr. Appointed to National League of Cities’
Public Safety and Crime Prevention Steering Committee

Washington, DC – Isaac Robinson, Jr., has been appointed to the National League of Cities’ (NLC) 2012 Public Safety and Crime Prevention Steering Committee. The Public Safety and Crime Prevention committee is responsible for developing policy positions on issues involving crime prevention, corrections, substance abuse, municipal fire policy, juvenile justice, disaster preparedness and relief, homeland security, domestic terrorism, court systems and gun control.

Each concern of the Committee is in South Florida.

As a member of the committee, Isaac “Ike” Robinson, Jr., will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions, while advocating on behalf of America’s cities and towns on Capitol Hill, with the Administration, and at home.

The chair of this year’s Public Safety and Crime Prevention Steering Committee is Kenneth D. Massey, Council Member, Farmington Hills, MI. Serving as this year’s vice chairs are Pete Constant, Council Member, San Jose, CA., and Isaac (Ike) Robinson, Jr., Commissioner, West Palm Beach, FL.

New West Palm Beach City Commissioner Appointed

Today the West Palm Beach City Commission appointed Sylvia Moffett to the District One City Commission vacancy.

Commissioner Moffett will serve until through April 5, 2012. She has been active in the city for years serving on the Old Northwood Steering Committee, as a Docent at the Norton Gallery, as a member of the City’s Charter Review Committee, on the Library Advisory board and currently as the Vice Chair of the Friends of the Library.

Commissioner Moffett thanked the commission for it’s support and promised to add a different perspective to discussions…”I come from a creative background and will bring with me a different way of looking at the issues. I promise to be creative and flexible when addressing problems and to keep my door open to our residents who have ideas and concerns.”

Mayor Jeri Muoio welcomes Commissioner Moffett and look forward to working with her, “Sylvia has been a solid supporter of the library and city for years. She has a real love for West Palm Beach and is a great new asset on the city commission.”

Commissioner Moffett replaces Commissioner Molly Douglas who left the seat after running for Mayor of West Palm Beach.
