Thursday, February 3 at the West Palm Beach Public Library 13 Educational institutions will be holding a FREE day long educational event sponsored by the City of West Palm Beach. Information on financial aid, scholarships, career choice and taking the ACT and SAT’s will be available. The general public is invited to attend.

City of WPB is Hiring! Jobs Available Through State Program

There is great news for people seeking jobs: the City of West Palm Beach now has dozens of jobs available through the Florida “Back to Work Program”. The City is seeking candidates with all levels of experience in fields such as Information Technology, Communications, Parks and Recreation, Customer Service, Security and more.
In order to qualify for one of these jobs, you MUST meet two requirements:

You must have a dependent child under the age of 18 living in your home. You may also qualify have a 19-year-old dependent child if he or she is in school and residing in your home.

You must have a monthly federal income that is not greater than 200% for the Federal Poverty Level, based on family size. That level is $3,675 a month for a family of four.

If you meet these two requirements, please join us on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Workforce Alliance at 1951 North Military Trail (just south of the Okeechobee Boulevard intersection) in West Palm Beach. There will be registration and eligibility confirmation from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. From 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. the City will conduct pre-screening and take applications from eligible candidates only.
The new jobs are being funded through Workforce Alliance by the State of Florida’s “Back to Work” program.

Youth Summer Job Fair

What: Hundreds of teens expected for Youth Summer Job Fair.
When: Friday, March 21, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Where: Gaines Park Recreation Center, 1501 N. Australian Ave
(03/18/08) Local teenagers will be able to meet with prospective employers, fill out applications and interview on the spot for some available jobs at the City of West Palm Beach’s Second Youth Summer Job Fair on Friday, March 21, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The fair is being held at the Gaines Park Recreation Center at 1501 N. Australian Avenue in West Palm Beach.
Interested job seekers will be able to meet with prospective employers, including the City of West Palm Beach. There will be opportunities for both summer jobs and seasonal employment. Teens will be able to fill out applications for employment, meet with employers and in some cases interview for openings on the spot.
Hundreds of Teens Attend City Summer Job Fair

March 19, 2007 - Hundreds of teenagers are getting a head start on finding great summer jobs through the City of West Palm Beach Youth Summer Job Fair. The fair brought more than a dozen local employers together, including several City of West Palm Beach departments looking for summer workers. Gaines Park, future site of a Youth Empowerment Center, hosted the fair.
“Getting and holding down a good summer job is a great way for a teenager to learn responsibility, stay productive, and mature,” said City of West Palm Beach Mayor Lois J. Frankel. “This job fair is part of the City’s effort to reach out to our young people and help them along the path to responsible adulthood.”
The City’s Department of Human Resources helped organize the job fair. The fair was open to people of all ages, but primarily focused on young people looking for summer jobs. Teens were able to talk with prospective employers, fill out applications, and even interview for some positions on the spot.
The job fair also featured opportunities for teens who to improve their job search skills, including interviewing skills, proper attire for interviews, and more.
