Hey CBN lovers: for two weeks in June, you’ll get to enjoy your favorite award-winning concert series at a cool new venue as Clematis by Night heads to City Center!
The City is proceeding with revitalizing the downtown waterfront, and we needed to find a new home for CBN for a couple of weeks while some work was being done. What better place to move it than City Center at the corner of Clematis and Dixie!
CBN will be held at City Center on Thursday, June 4, and Thursday, June 11, 2009. The time stays the same: from 6:00-9:30 p.m. Because of the new venue, Clematis Street will be closed between Dixie and Quadrille, while Dixie will be closed between Banyan and Clematis. Both these closings are from 2:00-11:00 p.m.
CBN returns to Centennial Square on June 18. Call us at 822-1515 if you have any questions.

On May 27, 2009, West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel took time to tour the local business Lockheed Martin. On this tour the Mayor was educated on Lockheed Martin, the important role they have in our community given the country’s economic state and what they are doing to build relationships with the residents of West Palm Beach.
Lockheed Martin is a global security company that employs about 146,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products and services. The Mayor toured their production area in West Palm Beach and was able to learn more about their products and how the company impacts our community’s young people. Currently Lockheed Martin is involved in mentoring and training local high schools students in math, science and engineering, supporting Boys and Girls Clubs and has local membership with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity.
John C. Brandes, Lockheed Martin’s Senior Program Manager Advanced Programs, led the tour. He commented on the Mayor’s visit as being vital to “building a stronger relationship between the company and the community. It is important for the community to know what we are doing.”
This is the fourth in a series of tours of local businesses so that local leaders can hear the concerns and ideas of business owners and help them formulate economic survival plans. The City of West Palm Beach has joined with the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches, the Business Development Board and Workforce Alliance to help local businesses survive the current national economic climate. By using the combined resources of these organizations businesses can gain access to a variety of enhancements including labor resources and worker training, assistance in applying for state and local business incentives for nonretail companies, identification of area vendors and suppliers, networking with corporate executives and government leaders, access to research and statistics and more.
