Popular City Program Returns for 2010 Hurricane Season
Apr 14, 2010 - Mayor's Office, Public Works
“Amnesty” Helps Homeowners Get Ready for Storms
The popular City of West Palm Beach “Amnesty” program is back, just in time to help residents get ready for the 2010 hurricane season.
Amnesty, which begins April 1 and lasts until May 31, encourages residents to cut back and trim their trees, shrubs and bushes prior to hurricane season. This helps limit the potential for damage, debris and the clogging of storm drains before and after storms. During Amnesty, the City will pick up all yard waste and vegetative debris for FREE, regardless of the size of the pile. Please make sure you put all debris in ONE PILE ONLY.
Homeowners win by getting their yard in shape and getting the trimmings picked up for free, and we all win when there is less damage during storms.
Please cut back all trees, bushes and shrubs during the months of April and May and place the yard waste at your curb on your normal yard waste collection day. Please place the debris at the curb in a single pile.
This free pickup service is for City residents only, and does not apply to private yard services or contractors. Those services must arrange for their own hauling. To learn more about Amnesty, please call 561-822-2222.
