March 19, 2007 - Hundreds of teenagers are getting a head start on finding great summer jobs through the City of West Palm Beach Youth Summer Job Fair.  The fair brought more than a dozen local employers together, including several City of West Palm Beach departments looking for summer workers.  Gaines Park, future site of a Youth Empowerment Center, hosted the fair.

“Getting and holding down a good summer job is a great way for a teenager to learn responsibility, stay productive, and mature,” said City of West Palm Beach Mayor Lois J. Frankel.  “This job fair is part of the City’s effort to reach out to our young people and help them along the path to responsible adulthood.”

The City’s Department of Human Resources helped organize the job fair.  The fair was open to people of all ages, but primarily focused on young people looking for summer jobs.  Teens were able to talk with prospective employers, fill out applications, and even interview for some positions on the spot.

The job fair also featured opportunities for teens who to improve their job search skills, including interviewing skills, proper attire for interviews, and more.
