PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee (PRAC) was established in the Spring of 2000 by the City Commission. Members are appointed by the Mayor and are volunteers. If you are interested in filling a vacancy on the committee, please contact Christine Thrower, Director of Parks and Recreation, at 804-4900.

The purposes of the PRAC are:

Communication: and information exchange with other counties and municipalities, city neighborhoods, schools, businesses and the City Commission relating to parks and open spaces

Recommend: any changes to the recreation strategic plan as well as legislation to the Commission regarding Parks and open spaces

Identify: and attract funding sources for grants and other funding to support parks and open spaces

Comment: to the Commission regarding land development and its impact on parks and to identify sites for parks within the city

Make Recommendations: about facilities, beautification and changes to the Recreation Strategic Plan

The PRAC meets the second Tuesday of each month at 4:00 pm in the Commission Chambers at City Hall. Parking will be validated and interested persons who attend should bring their tickets to the meeting. All interested residents are encouraged to attend meetings and participate or serve on committees.
