The East Central Regional Wastewater Treatment
Facility is owned by a consortium consisting of
the Cities of West Palm Beach, Riviera Beach, Lake
Worth, the Town of Palm Beach and Palm Beach County.
This facility processes and disposes of wastewater
and residuals from its constituent customers. The
plant is currently capable of and licensed to process
55 million gallons of influent per day.
A major Project is underway to increase the processing
capacity of the plant from 55 million to 70 million
gallons of wastewater per day. Several actions will
be required to achieve this increase in productivity:
- Additional effluent pumps will be purchased and
installed
- A seventh Deep Injection Well and corresponding
test well will be drilled and placed in service.
- Additional air blowers will be installed to increase
the oxygen to aerobic digester.
- A second equalization basin will be installed.
- An additional bar screen will be installed.
- All eight clarifiers will be rehabilitated. Rehabilitation
will include the replacement of the metal infrastructure
and drive units.
