Apoxee Trail at Grassy Waters Preserve Closed for Upgrades

Improvement project includes widening of trails.

 

WHAT:                The Apoxee Trail, a three-mile winding path through wetland hammocks and pine flat woods, will close to all visitors for trail enhancements as part of the Apoxee Trail Improvement Project. The project includes the widening of the trails and raising of the trail elevation.  These improvements will enrich the visitor experience by providing year-round access to the trail. 

WHERE:              Apoxee Trail at Grassy Waters Preserve

(West side of Jog Rd., one mile north of Okeechobee Blvd.)

 

WHEN:                Tuesday, May 26, 2020, until further notice.

 

ABOUT:              The trail offers hiking and wildlife viewing. Great horned owls, bobcat, white-tailed deer, raccoon, armadillo, possum, and other wetland-dependent species reside in Apoxee Park.
