West Palm Beach Residents Encouraged to Apply for CARES Act Rental & Utility Assistance
WEST PALM BEACH, FL (June 10, 2020) – West Palm Beach residents are encouraged to apply for the Palm Beach County’s ‘CARES Act Coronavirus Relief Rent and Utilities Assistance Program. The program provides one-time assistance for past due rental and/or utility balances to residents. Assistance may be provided as follows:
- Rent up to $5,800 or 3 months in arrears beginning in March 2020 (based demonstrated need and funding availability)
- Electric, water and gas up to $1,200 or 3 months in arrears beginning in March 2020 (based demonstrated need and funding availability)
In order to be eligible for the program, individuals must be able to document loss or reduction of income as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Balances must have a due date after March 1st, 2020 and prior to December 30th, 2020. The City of West Palm Beach’s Housing and Community Development Department is offering appointments for help completing the application to ONLY West Palm Beach residents. To schedule an appointment, interested parties shall contact (561) 822-1274 (TTY: 800-955-8771) and leave a voicemail with their name and telephone number. All calls with be returned within 24 hours.
To avoid duplicating efforts, the City of West Palm Beach has temporarily closed the its COVID-19 Rental Eviction Prevention Program. The City is working closely with Palm Beach County to determine eligibility for services.
