WPB to Upgrade Pavement Conditions Citywide

The City of West Palm Beach has announced new road  paving projects as a part of the 2019-2020 Road Resurfacing Program. Totaling nearly $39 million, the annual program includes new and previously committed paving projects, as well as sidewalk and street sign condition assessments. The goal of the program is to ensure that city streets are in good condition and safe for all users. The program makes strategic improvements, such as grinding, paving and pavement preservation, to improve durability and reliability for all users of the City’s multi-modal transportation system.

 

WPB Hits Home Run with Business at the Ballpark

At the “Business at the Ball Park” Procurement meeting, held on Oct. 23, 2019 at FITTEAM Ballpark of The Palm Beaches, about 75 people came to hear from the City of West Palm Beach about upcoming opportunities and how to get involved with the SBE and MWBE programs. Guests, which represented a large cross-section of county industries – from signage to banking – also received an informative overview on surety bonds from speaker Checree Bryant.

 

WPB to Celebrate 125 Years on November 5th

It’s a Quasquicentennial celebration! You might need 125 tries to spell or pronounce the word, but only one guess to know that the City of West Palm Beach is celebrating its 125th anniversary! The City will celebrate this historic milestone on November 5th, our charter date. There are many ways to celebrate!

Mayor James will reflect on the City’s recent accomplishments and announce updates on key city priorities. Arrive early and network with elected officials and other community leaders while enjoying fresh coffee. Free breakfast and parking will be provided.

Join us for a free family-friendly guided boardwalk hike to learn how Native Americans used this area, and then create your own Calusa masks to take home.

Saturday, November 30, 2019, 2-3:30 p.m.: Feathered Friends

Join us for a free family-friendly guided boardwalk hike to search for our unique wetland birds. Learn more about their amazing adaptations and how their feathers were used by humans throughout history. Create and decorate your very own craft binoculars to take home!

Wear closed-toe shoes, hat, sunscreen and bring a refillable water bottle. Reservations are required for all programs (561) 804-4985

 

Mandel Public Library is moving Yoga to Howard Park Community Center for Nov.

The Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach is making some exciting technology improvements to our public spaces on the 2nd and 3rd floors, including the Auditorium, where yoga classes currently take place. Due to the temporary closing of the Auditorium, we are moving the library’s weekly Tuesday and Saturday yoga classes to Howard Park Community Center located at 1302 Parker Avenue, just south of Okeechobee Blvd. City residents can bring a mat and join yogi Priyanka Shanbag (RYT 200 certified) for a FREE gentle vinyasa (flow) practice during the following days and times:

Tuesdays: November 5, 12, 19, 26, 5:45 PM – 6:45 PM and 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Saturdays: November 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, 10:30 AM – 11:45 AM

The classes are FREE; however optional donations are accepted by instructor at time of class. For more information, please call the library at 561-868-7701.
