2018 Economic Development Survey:

WPB is a Great Place in which to do Business

Job Growth, Economic Strength in Key Sectors, Strong Demand for Class-A Office Space Highlight Study’s Key Findings

Chamber of Commerce Chair Keith Spina, Mayor Jeri Muoio, Avalanche Consulting VP Tony DeLisi, FPL Sr. External Affairs Dir. Don Kiselewski

The City of West Palm Beach is a great place in which to do business, based on the results of an Economic Development Survey.

The study, conducted by Avalanche Consulting over a 6-month period, showed West Palm Beach job growth exceeding the national average, more evidence of the City’s need for Class-A office space, and economic strength in both the City’s traditional economic sectors of Real Estate/Development and Tourism as well as in other diversifying sectors such as Finance, Medicine, and Cottage Industries on Antique Row and in the Warehouse District.

The findings were presented to City Commissioners during a Mayor-Commission Work Session on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 and, also, before a luncheon hosted by the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches on Wednesday, September 5 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.

“The City of West Palm Beach offers a superlative business climate coupled with an exceptional quality of life,” said West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio.

“Bolstered by a pro-business government and a vibrant, supportive business community, West Palm Beach is on a solid economic growth track and, in some areas, exceeding national averages as seen in the job growth data, strong sales, and rising property values in our city. We also, now, have even more data about our City’s very strong need for more Class-A office space.”

WPB Golf Course to Close for

Renovations in September

The City of West Palm Beach will close the municipal golf course on Sunday, September 30, 2018 while the City waits to begin renovations of the near 200-acre course and grounds. The City has selected Topgolf and American Links to renovate the course and construct a new clubhouse and other amenitities. The City is working with the developer to negotiate and finalize the terms of the agreement.

As there is no set date for the course's reopening, golfers who wish to play the course or redeem golf course gift certificates should do so before the end of the month.

The renovation will create a world-class sustainable golf course and transform the facility into a revenue generating destination from leases paid to the City. The improvements will include:

  • Fully renovated golf course and entrance road;
  • New driving range;
  • New clubhouse;
  • New hotel;
  • Water, sewer and maintenance facility improvements.

The West Palm Beach Golf Course is located at 7001 Parker Avenue. The City established the course in 1921 and moved it to its present location in 1947.
