The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (FDEO) has announced the availability of $75,000,000  to fund critical facility hardening projects in impacted communities. The City of West Palm Beach is interested in applying for five (5) Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (FDEO) Rebuild Florida Critical Facility Hardening Program grants totaling $7,023,750 for the following City projects:

Fire Station No. 1 hardening ($992,500) includes the addition of hardening measures to strengthen the City’s Fire Station No. 1 to mitigate future hurricane wind damage and improve the operational capability of the station’s response system.

 

Fire Station No. 5 hardening ($3,200,000) includes the addition of hardening measures to strengthen the City’s Fire Station No. 5 to mitigate future hurricane wind damage and improve the operational capability of the station’s response system.

 

Fire Station No. 6 hardening ($598,500) includes the addition of hardening measures to strengthen the City’s Fire Station No. 6 to mitigate future hurricane wind damage and improve the operational capability of the station’s response system.

 

Fire Station No. 9 hardening ($1,995,000) includes the addition of hardening measures to strengthen the City’s Fire Station No. 9 to mitigate future hurricane wind damage and improve the operational capability of the station’s response system.

 

The City is seeking 100% FDEO grant funding for these projects, as these are unfunded needs the City has that are a necessary element of the City’s storm mitigation strategy.  The public is invited to provide comments on the above projects and grant opportunity until June 30, 2020.  Please provide your comments or submit a request for a copy of the grant applications to Ralph Wall at rwall@wpb.org
