For the 2020 Census, between March 12, 2020 and March 20, 2020, West Palm Beach households will receive a letter asking you to go online to complete the census questionnaire.
If you haven’t responded by April 1, you will receive a reminder postcard. If you still don’t respond, you will receive a reminder letter and a paper questionnaire. Use a pen with blue or black ink, or a #2 pencil to fill out the form. Mail it back in the free postage-paid return envelope. If you have trouble answering a question or any problems, call the Census Bureau at (800) 354-7271, and someone will help you.
By April 20th, if you haven’t filled out your form, you will receive a third postcard reminder, followed up by an in-person census taker if needed.
And if you don’t have access to the internet, local libraries usually have computers you can use to fill out the census online.
The U.S. Census Bureau will never ask for:
- Your Social Security number.
- Your bank account or credit card numbers.
- Money or donations.
- Your political party.
If someone visits your home to collect a response for the 2020 Census, there are steps you can take to verify their identity:
- First, check to make sure that they have a valid ID badge, with their photograph, a Department of Commerce watermark, and an expiration date.
- Note that they may be carrying a Census Bureau phone or a laptop, plus a bag with a Census Bureau logo.
- If you still have questions, call (800) 923-8282 to speak with a local Census Bureau representative.
