POLICE SEARCHING FOR DEADLY HIT-AND-RUN DRIVER

West Palm Beach police are looking for the driver who struck and killed a pedestrian Saturday night in the 3200 block of Broadway.

At 7:33 p.m. January 4, a 911 caller saw an unconscious man lying on the sidewalk along the southbound lanes of Broadway. Despite lifesaving efforts by first-arriving officers, the man died at the scene.

Traffic Homicide Unit detectives began the on-scene investigation and determined the car was southbound on Broadway when it struck the pedestrian, believed to be crossing the street from east to west, just south of 32 Street. Evidence was recovered that identified the hit-and-run vehicle as a black sedan with front-end damage and a shattered windshield. The victim was identified as Leroy Abrahams, 65, of West Palm Beach. Southbound Broadway was closed for several hours as detectives documented the scene and collected evidence.

Anyone with information about the crash, or may have seen a car with recent damage described above should contact Traffic Homicide Detective David Streigold at 561-822-1608. Tips can also be reported to Crime Stoppers, at 1-800-458-TIPS (8477), or the free SaferWatch™ App, anonymously.
