WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (February 13, 2025) – A West Palm Beach man is facing multiple charges after attempting to flee from officers on an e-bike.

Troy Caldeira, 52, was observed riding an e-bike on the sidewalk without proper lighting along the 800 block of Village Blvd. Officers attempted to make a traffic stop by activating their lights and sirens, however Caldeira increased his speed, prompting the officer to give commands via his public address system. Eventually Caldeira fell off his e-bike, and fled on foot, dropping a backpack in the process. Officers were quickly able to catch up with and apprehend Caldeira.

At the time of his apprehension, Caldeira was wearing a full-face ski mask, gray and black rubber gloves and a police scanner headset. Once officers removed Caldeira’s ski mask, they immediately recognized him from several alerts from other law enforcement agencies. Caldeira’s clothing also matched the description of a suspect wanted in connection with two burglaries that occurred in the City of West Palm Beach.

Officers searched Caldeira’s backpack and found multiple tools typically used in committing burglaries. Additionally, it was determined that Caldeira intercepted police radio communications via the use of a scanner to assist in committing a crime or avoid detection or arrest.

Caldeira is currently facing charges of resisting an officer without violence, possession of burglary tools with intent to use and unlawful use of police communications.
