The West Palm Beach Police Department is recognized for its best practices and firm adherence to
professional standards in the latest accreditation inspection.
(WEST PALM BEACH, FL) Friday, May 2, 2025 - The Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation concludes that the West Palm Beach Police Department complies with all 236 mandatory and non-mandatory professional standards for accreditation. The Commission notes that the West Palm Beach Police Department has new leadership and “a renewed sense of accountability and professionalism.” The Commission describes the department's culture “as being distinctly improved from the previous visit” in March 2024. The Assessment Revision Report was conducted on April 2, 2025.
The assessment began with an inspection of West Palm Beach Police Department patrol vehicles, and each patrol unit was found to be in compliance, with emergency equipment fully functional and neatly maintained. Other conclusions from the assessment include:
-
All West Palm Beach Police Department officers interviewed for the assessment possessed working flashlights, fire extinguishers, wore department-issued body armor, and carried personal protective equipment (PPE).
-
The West Palm Beach Police Department has demonstrated compliance with domestic violence reporting. Each report inspected reflects that responding officers submitted documentation within 24 hours as required.
-
The West Palm Beach Police Department demonstrates “best practices and a strong adherence to professional standards.”
The Commission accepted the department's action plan to correct procedures for submitting juvenile fingerprints to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and noted that out-of-date first-aid kits and fire extinguishers were immediately removed and replaced with current supplies.
The Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation recommends that the West Palm Beach Police Department retain its reaccredited status.
