ArtLife WPB Local Artist Initiative The Commons: 5 Artists 5 Spaces Open to the Public

WEST PALM BEACH, FL  (May 14, 2025)— The City’s Public Art Program ArtLife West Palm Beach launched its third iteration of The Commons, an initiative to encourage local artists to take their projects out of the art studio and into the public realm. The Commons: 5 Artists 5 Spaces is now open for the public to experience these uniquely created temporary site-specific works with the Endless Summer theme.

The work of the selected participating artists is on view at the locations below, along with free workshops in partnership with the Mandel Public Library.

Quimetta Perle: “Let Me Bring You Something Beautiful” and “Shekere & Dance!” are exhibited on the Mandel Public Library’s 4th floor. “Let Me Bring You Something Beautiful” is an original poem transposed onto a series of eight textile works. Join Perle for a Fabric Collage workshop for adults on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 1 - 3:30 p.m.

Mei O’Malley: Their immersive comic series, “Endless Summer” vividly captures young adult characters exploring West Palm Beach while diving into the must-read summer reading books located at the two Mandel Public Library elevators and the 3rd floor. See O’Malley present at the Mandel Fan Fest for a Creating Characters panel on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 3 - 4 p.m.

Gregory Dirr: Inspired by Dirr's “The Big Book,” “Canopy Realm's” garden fairy tale features fantastical flora, mischievous cats, and otherworldly creatures. It welcomes our youngest citizens to explore the magic within - located in the City's courtyard outside City Hall. Join Dirr for a Fantastical Sticker-Making workshop for tweens on Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. and at the BAM (Books, Art, Music) Festival on April 11, 2026.

Allan Creary: Creary’s “Pop Art” inspired style in “Endless Summer Pop” invites the viewer to feel the city’s summer energy in this public collective space, in the Urban Living room near the library’s front entrance. Join Creary for a Pop Art Postcard workshop for all ages on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 1 - 2:30 p.m.

Milena Arango: Arango’s immersive project “Ocean Echoes” at Jose Marti Park is inspired by nature and the surrounding waterways. Arango uses mixed media to evoke the movement and colors of the ocean while reminding us of our intricate relationship with water. Join her for an introductory crochet workshop for all ages on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 1 - 3 p.m.

The Commons: 5 Artists 5 Spaces: Endless Summer 2025 is now open!
