TRAFFIC ADVISORY FOR NOVEMBER 5
Overnight Monday, eastbound Okeechobee Boulevard will have one lane open from Parker to Rosemary avenues while crews setup security fences and barriers in preparation for the election night presidential candidate event at the Palm Beach Convention Center. By 6 a.m. Tuesday, Okeechobee Boulevard should have three eastbound lanes reopened through the duration of the event
Westbound traffic does not have any scheduled disruptions as of this advisory except U-turns and left turns may be impacted from Parker Avenue to South Quadrille Boulevard. Voters heading to the Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts High School polling place will not be able to turn from eastbound Okeechobee Boulevard north onto Sapodilla Avenue, so they should take Tamarind Avenue instead.
Sidewalk access on the south side of Okeechobee Boulevard from Parker to Rosemary Avenues is now blocked to pedestrians. The north sidewalk on Okeechobee Boulevard will remain open as a detour for east-west foot traffic Attendees for the Convention Center event Tuesday should consider using a ride share to the designated pickup and drop-off location on South Rosemary Avenue by the Hilton West Palm Beach, adjacent to the Convention Center.
The best suggestion is to avoid the area around the Convention Center unless you absolutely have to go there. There may be additional unannounced road closures, so consider Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard to the north and Belvedere Road to the south as better east-west routes. Be sure to plan your trip ahead and allow for extra time to reach your destination. Use real-time navigation/GPS apps to route you where you need to go.
The West Palm Beach Police Department is reminding residents and visitors to stay alert and aware of their surroundings. They are urged to report anything suspicious through through the free. "SaferWatch"' app
(www.saferwatchapp.com). which goes directly to our 911 Emergency Communications Center and Strategic Intelligence Center. As always, 911 should be used for life-threatening emergencies and in-progress crimes.
