AVOID FLOODED AREAS

Due to unprecedented rainfall, the City of West Palm Beach is experiencing flooding in several areas.
For your safety, please avoid flooded roads and areas with standing water. If you encounter a flooded roadway, do not attempt to drive through it. Turn around and seek an alternate route. Please avoid unnecessary travel through impacted areas.

Flooding Update

City of West Palm Beach crews continue to actively clear storm drain grates and address areas experiencing standing water following heavy rainfall. Residents who are experiencing flooding in their neighborhoods are encouraged to report it by calling (561) 822-2222. Use caution and avoid flooded roadways.
Grassy Waters Nature Center and Cypress Boardwalk are closed until further notice.

Flooding Interrupts Trash Collections

Flooding in multiple areas has caused delays to routine residential garbage pickup in some neighborhoods, including Jonathan’s Cove and Lakes of Laguna. If your area was not serviced Monday, any excess bagged garbage placed next to your cart will be collected on your next regularly scheduled pickup day. Contact Public Works at 561-822-2075 with any additional questions or concerns.

Junior Alerts

Teaching Skills that Last a Lifetime

Junior Alerts is a life skills program that exposes young teenagers to the training and skills required to become firefighters. Our program provides essential training in leadership, responsibility, discipline, and teamwork – values that last a lifetime, and are required in every profession.

Junior Alert participants gain hands-on experience learning from our professional firefighters and are mentored by students from the Palm Beach Lakes High School Fire Academy. Participants learn how to master a variety of professional fire service techniques and other skills.

This unique summer program is co-sponsored with the Florence De George Boys & Girls Club. If you would like to participate in our next Junior Alert program in the summer of 2026, register at the Florence De George Boys & Girls Club, or email registration@bgcpbc.org.
