City of West Palm Beach Announces Opening of AgDiscovery Application Season

WEST PALM BEACH, FL — The City of West Palm Beach is pleased to announce that the AgDiscovery application season is set to open on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024. This free summer outreach program, facilitated by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), is designed to assist teenagers in exploring careers in agricultural sciences.

AgDiscovery is open to students in grades 8 to 11 nationwide, providing them with a unique opportunity to delve into the world of agricultural sciences. The program aims to foster an interest in animal science, veterinary medicine, and related fields among the younger generation.

Florida A&M University (FAMU) is hosting one of the summer outreach programs this year. FAMU's AgDiscovery is a two-week summer outreach program targeting current students in grades 8 to 11 who are interested in animal science, veterinary medicine, and related fields.

Participants in the FAMU AgDiscovery program will engage in experiential learning through various delivery approaches, including workshops, laboratory, and field exercises, as well as cultural and teambuilding activities. The program offers students a wide range of experiences in animal science to help them better understand and refine their career paths. Additionally, participants can apply for early admission to FAMU.

FAMU AgDiscovery takes place annually, starting on the second Sunday in June and concluding two weeks later. In-person, students reside on FAMU's campus at no cost, with full safety and security services.
