West Palm Beach City Commission Meeting Approvals and Decisions

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (DATE) – Below is a summary of the approvals and decisions made by the City Commission meeting on Monday, June 9, 2025.

MAYOR’S OFFICE – Approved two resolutions, the first amending the City's Salary Plan for FY2024-2025 by adding various job classifications and updating the pay grade and salary ranges for certain job classifications; and a second companion resolution amending the full-time equivalent budget (F.T.E.) for certain departments and for certain funds for FY2024-2025.

The annual Night Runners 5K Walk/Run along the West Palm Beach Waterfront is Saturday, June 21 at 6:30 p.m. 

CITY ATTORNEY – Approved a resolution authorizing the assessment of City liens in the total amount of $13,826.15 for unpaid water service, sewer service, and stormwater service for the month of February 2025; approved a resolution for a Settlement Agreement totaling $55,000 in the matter of Selestreon A. Novembre vs. The City of West Palm Beach; approved a resolution waiving a potential conflict of interest relating to Greenberg Traurig, P.A.’s representation of Norton Museum of Art and in connection with a proposed Ground Lease Transaction and its representation of the City in unrelated matters.

DEVELOPMENT SERVICES – Approved an ordinance after second public hearing on a privately-initiated text amendment to Chapter 94 - Zoning and Land Development Regulations - Article IV and Article XIX – to provide additional standards for hospital use within the Downtown Master Plan (DMP) and to further clarify the existing definition for hospitals; approved an ordinance after second public hearing on a Development Regulations, Article IV - Downtown Master Plan Urban Regulations, Section 94-124 – North Railroad Avenue district (NORA) to eliminate the height in stories requirement for residential developments utilizing the Downtown Master Plan (DMP) Housing Incentive Program.

ENGINEERING – Approved an ordinance after first public hearing amending the Code of Ordinances at Chapter 86 - Traffic and Parking, at Sections 86-245 and 86-246 to revise the permit requirements and approval process for construction traffic management and construction parking plans.

FIRE DEPARTMENT – Approved a resolution approving a Seventh Amendment to the Interlocal Agreement for Fire Vehicle Maintenance between Palm Beach County and the City of West Palm Beach.

HOUSING and COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT – Approved a resolution approving Amendment No. 4 to the Tamarind Parcel Lease with Transit Village PPP-Seaboard, LLC, for the Seaboard Train Station to extend the Commencement Date; approved a resolution approving the transfer of City funds in Fiscal Year 2024/2025 for the purpose of amending the Grants Capital Project fund budget to provide additional appropriations for the Currie Park Redevelopment project.

PARKS and RECREATION – Approved a resolution authorizing the provision of Child Care Services at Pleasant City and South Olive Community Centers and approving a State of Florida Statewide School Readiness Provider Contract and a Children’s Services Provider Contract to provide funding for the provision of said services; approved a resolution for a service agreement with J.D. Thornton Nurseries, Inc. in the amount of $108,910 for the relocation of large specimen trees within Dreher Park to accommodate the development of the Boys and Girls Club; approved a resolution authorizing the appropriation or transfer of City funds, amending the 2020 General Obligation Bond Fund, providing $350,000 from Bond Fund reserves to fully fund the construction of the Brian Chappell Park fishing pier

POLICE DEPARTMENT – Approved a pair of companion resolutions, the first accepting a donation from The Fund for West Palm Beach Police Department in the amount of $89,165 for the expansion of the City camera and license plate reader project; and the second companion resolution recognizing and appropriating a donation of $89,165 from The Fund for West Palm Beach Police Department in Fiscal Year 2024-2025 for the expansion of the City camera and license plate reader project; approved  a resolution amending the Fiscal Year 2024/2025 Miscellaneous Trust Fund Budget to authorize appropriations of $196,653 from the State Law Enforcement Forfeiture Receipts for law enforcement equipment.
