IKE Smart City Ribbon Cutting | Clematis Street & Olive Avenue
"Last week, we officially launched one of the most exciting additions to our Downtown experience — the IKE Smart City kiosks!
This initiative represents more than just technology and our commitment to innovation — it is a major step forward in making West Palm Beach a truly people-first city, prioritizing accessibility and connection. These ADA-accessible, interactive kiosks serve as modern-day guides — helping people navigate our streets, discover local businesses, learn about City services, and even connect to emergency resources.
We’re proud to be one of just 26 cities nationwide that have embraced Smart City technology at no cost to the City or its taxpayers. These kiosks will make it easier to explore, stay informed, and experience all that West Palm Beach has to offer — whether you’re a resident or a visitor.
A sincere thank you to the IKE Smart City team, Downtown Development Authority, and our dedicated City staff for your hard work in bringing this initiative to life."
— Mayor Keith A. James

Community Highlights
Tacos del Cartel Ribbon Cutting
"It’s always a great day when we get to welcome a new business to our vibrant Downtown — and this week, we officially welcomed Tacos del Cartel to 533 Clematis Street. This is their very first Florida location, and we couldn’t be more excited to have them join our West Palm Beach family.
Founded in 2020, in the middle of a global pandemic, Tacos del Cartel is a story of resilience and vision. Husband-and-wife duo Danny Cruz and Vilexys Salas have blended cultural storytelling, bold flavors, immersive design, and warm hospitality to create something truly special — a dining experience that’s as memorable as it is delicious.
West Palm Beach is proud to be the next chapter in their journey — and I know this restaurant will bring not only incredible food and flair, but also connection and community.
On behalf of the City of West Palm Beach and the Downtown Development Authority, congratulations to Vilexys, Danny, and the entire Tacos del Cartel team. We wish you tremendous success!" — Mayor Keith A. James
National Night Out | West Palm Beach Police Department
Bounce houses, face painting, and free school supplies — oh my! Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate National Night Out with the West Palm Police Department. This year, officers and staff handed out 450 backpacks filled with school supplies — and they served up 400 McDonald’s hamburgers and more than 250 Mister Softee ice cream treats. We can't wait for next year!
Touch-a-Truck Library Event: Firefighter Edition
Last week's Touch-a-Truck event was a blast! Dozens of toddlers and their accompanying adults attended Fire Safety Storytime at the Mandel Public Library — and they got to meet some of our amazing firefighters! The West Palm Beach Fire Department even brought along one of their fire trucks for kids to see up close and explore!

Great Work, Officer McCarthy!
Meet Robert — a New York National Guard veteran who, after facing difficult times, experienced homelessness. When Officer McCarthy of the West Palm Beach Police Department met Robert here in the City, he connected him with local programs that support veterans. Today, Robert has the keys to his own apartment and a fresh start — no longer living without a place to call home.
