West Palm Beach Police Arrest Woman in Fatal Shooting Near Echo Lake Park

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (August 26, 2025) — West Palm Beach Police responded to a shooting in the 4100 block of Haden Avenue around 8:20 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers found 75-year-old Leroy Scott with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced deceased shortly afterward.

Detectives identified the victim's daughter, 43-year-old Leah Scott, as the suspect. She was taken into custody around 10 a.m., roughly two miles from the scene.

Leah Scott faces charges first-degree murder and discharging a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school, pursuant to Florida Statutes 782.04(1)(a) and 790.115.
