West Palm Beach Police Department's Ashley Perkins Wins People's Choice Award at International Forensics Conference
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (August 22, 2025) – The West Palm Beach Police Department is proud to announce that Latent Print Examiner Ashley Perkins has been awarded the People's Choice Award for her image titled "Tell Tail Heart" at the 109th Annual International Association for Identification (IAI) Educational Conference held this month in Orlando, Florida.
Perkins' photograph was selected from among 26 entries submitted to the conference's photography contest. In addition to winning the People's Choice Award, she also earned second place in the Forensic Photography category.
"The West Palm Beach Police Department congratulates Ashley on this well-deserved recognition," said Tony Shearer, Deputy Chief of Police. "Her talent, professionalism, and commitment to forensic science reflect the highest standards of our department."
The IAI Annual Educational Conference is recognized as the premier international event for forensic professionals. Each year, it provides a full week of specialized training, hands-on workshops, and scientific presentations across disciplines such as crime scene investigation, fingerprint analysis, forensic photography, DNA, and digital evidence.
Founded in 1915, the International Association for Identification is the world's oldest and largest forensic professional organization. Its members represent public, private, and government agencies across the globe and include both emerging practitioners and internationally recognized forensic experts.
