Overnight Crash Kills One Pedestrian, Injures Another

OVERNIGHT CRASH KILLS ONE PEDESTRIAN, INJURES ANOTHER
An early morning crash claimed the life of a 25-year-old woman, and injured a 34-year-old man as they crossed a downtown street.
A 2021 Tesla 3, driven by Daniel De Los Rios, 26, of West Palm Beach, was westbound on Banyan Boulevard approaching Rosemary Avenue when it struck a couple crossing from north to south across Banyan. The crash was reported at 3:25 a.m. December 28.
Melissa Nichole Carleen, 25, of West Palm Beach, and Roberto Sanchez Jr., 33, of Royal Palm Beach, were crossing in the crosswalk however, West Palm Beach police Traffic Homicide detectives have determined the Tesla driver had a green light when the crash happened. Carleen and Sanchez were rushed to St. Mary’s Trauma Center by West Palm Beach Fire Department paramedics. Carleen died shortly after arriving at the hospital, and Sanchez underwent surgery. He was admitted in serious condition.
The investigation remains open however, there are no criminal charges at this time.
