Bicyclist Critical after Hit-and-Run

BICYCLIST CRITICAL AFTER HIT-AND-RUN
A 60-year-old man is in critical condition after being struck on his bicycle by a hit-and-run driver late Saturday night.
A woman driving by called 911 at 9:02 p.m. January 11, 2025 saying there was an unconscious man lying partially in the road in the 1100 block of 45th Street, near East Avenue. A bicycle was near the man, and the caller feared the victim could get run over again. West Palm Beach Fire Department paramedics rushed the cyclist to nearby St. Mary’s Trauma Center.
Traffic Homicide Unit detectives have determined the suspect’s vehicle was heading east on 45th Street near the railroad crossing when the bicyclist was struck from behind. The cyclist was thrown from the bike and catapaulted forward, landing partly on the road and sidewalk.
Detectives are working to identify the vehicle and driver from this crash, and are seeking assistance from the community.
