ArtLife, in Partnership with the Mandel Public Library, Announces NEW “Collection Connection” Initiative
WEST PALM BEACH, FL — The Office of Mayor Keith A. James, ArtLife West Palm Beach, and the Mandel Public Library announce a City-wide initiative titled Collection Connection — and the community is invited to attend the launch event on Wednesday, February 12, at 4 p.m. in the Library’s Urban Living Room. This initiative encourages residents and visitors to explore the numerous artworks that enrich our City’s public spaces. To participate, those interested can pick up their free Art Passport during the launch event — or any day after that at one of the designated service desks in the library (adults visit the 4th floor service desk; and families, children, and teens visit the 3rd floor KidSpace service desk).
With your Art Passport in hand, scan the QR code to start exploring public artworks, permanent or temporary, that are on exhibit throughout our beautiful City. Each passport page is unique and guides the “art explorer” to wander, reflect, record, and connect.
How it works:
Step 1 — Find an art piece that inspires or interests you: Art locations can be found on the West Palm Beach ArtLife map.
Step 2 — Reflect and Record your findings in your Art Passport: For each piece of art visited, choose any page from your Art Passport and complete the prompt.
Step 3 — Connect with Art: Participants are encouraged to post photos of the public art and/or their Art Passport pages on Instagram and to tag the Mandel Public Library (@mandelpubliclibrary) and ArtLifeWPB (@artlifewpb).
Step 4 — Show us your Art Passport: Once you have visited the artworks, return to the Mandel Public Library to show us your Art Passport to receive a collector’s enamel pin! You will also be entered to win an art inspired prize package.
Sound exciting? Visit the Mandel Public Library, pick up your free Art Passport, and start your art adventure today!
Collection Connection is funded through the City’s public art program ArtLife WPB in partnership with the Mandel Public Library. All updates will be posted to the Collection Connection webpage.
For more information about the initiative, please contact Sybille Canthal, Director of Arts, Culture and Community Building at scanthal@wpb.org or (561) 822-1521.
