A Vision for Public Safety | Community Meeting
"This week, Chief Tony Araujo and I welcomed residents to City Hall for an important conversation about public safety. Keeping our community safe is our top priority — and that work begins with trust. That’s why these conversations about the long-term vision for the West Palm Beach Police Department matter so much.
Public safety is the foundation for strong neighborhoods and new opportunities. Under Chief Araujo’s leadership, our focus is on building stronger relationships, increasing accountability, and making sure every resident feels safe, heard, and supported."
— Mayor Keith A. James

Empowering Youth in the City of West Palm Beach
"This week, I sat down with an amazing and driven young man named Owen, who asked me for a formal interview to complete an elementary homeschool project. He put great thought and care into his questions and even concluded with a strong handshake!
It's clear he's a natural when it comes to interviewing, and I was pleased to have him here at City Hall. I'm wishing Owen all the very best in his academic journey ahead.
|
It's so important for us, as a community, to empower youth and to support their love of learning. That is why I am particularly proud to sit down for a unique interview like this or to invest in programs like the Youth Climate Action Fund (YCAF), where teens and young adults can create innovative solutions to climate change, particularly here in our City.
The creativity and leadership coming out of our youth in the YCAF program is inspiring. By working across sectors and taking the initiative to combat climate change, West Palm Beach students are taking their future into their own hands. I look forward to seeing these projects come to life."

April 2025 is Officially Water Conservation Month in Our City
"During the latest City Commission Meeting, I officially proclaimed April as Water Conservation Month in the City of West Palm Beach. Our most precious natural resource here in our City — and around the world — is water.
Since 1998, Water Conservation Month reminds each one of us that we play a vital role in preserving our water supply for future generations to come. From simple, everyday habits to large-scale initiatives, conserving water ensures the health, resilience, and sustainability of our City.
Our City's drinking water comes primarily from the Grassy Waters Preserve, a 23-square-mile stretch of Everglades. This unique rain-fed ecosystem captures clean rainwater, free from roadway or urban runoff, and sustains the natural environment while providing high-quality drinking water for our City. Preserving this water supply is crucial. However, as this resource is dependent on rainfall, the City continues to explore innovative solutions — such as tapping into the Florida Aquifer and implementing advanced water treatment technologies like reverse osmosis — to secure our future water supply.
Thank you to our residents for doing your part in conserving water — and thank you to our nearly 375 dedicated Public Utilities team members across 17 divisions. Their hard work ensures that our drinking water is safe and reliable, and that our wastewater services are available to residents, businesses, and visitors every single day.
Also, please note that Palm Beach County is currently suffering severe and extreme drought. We strongly encourage enhanced water conservation measures and compliance, especially now."
— Mayor Keith A. James
