WPB Fire Department Junior Alerts Graduation | August 2025
After seven weeks of intensive training, these West Palm Beach teenagers celebrated their achievements during our Fire Department's Junior Alerts graduation at Fire Station 3!
"Congratulations to the graduates! You’ve completed a program that challenged you to learn new skills, push beyond your comfort zone, and work together as a team. You’ve trained in areas that require courage, focus, and discipline, and I have no doubt that the lessons you’ve learned will stay with you for years to come." — Mayor Keith A. James
These incredible teens, from the Florence De George Boys & Girls Club, trained side-by-side with West Palm Beach firefighters, learning leadership, responsibility, and teamwork — all while building confidence and gaining essential life skills.
“We are not only exposing them to a career in fire rescue; we are also helping them become better citizens,” said Fire Chief Diana Matty. “They will have learned basic first aid, CPR, and other life-saving measures that could save a life at home or at school. These teens are our future lifesavers and leaders.”
The Junior Alerts program is led by West Palm Beach firefighters in cooperation with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County. It also includes teen volunteers from Palm Beach Lakes High School’s Fire Academy, who mentor participants one-on-one, share their own experiences, and encourage them to consider careers in fire service.
