West Palm Beach Police Headquarters Safe Today, Ready for the Future
WEST PALM BEACH, FL (August 12, 2025) – The West Palm Beach Police Department headquarters remains safe for daily operations as the City embarks on a $6 million remediation and modernization plan to address long-standing maintenance issues and extend the useful life of the building for the next decade and beyond.
The building’s current condition is the result of deferred maintenance and postponed upgrades to its roof and HVAC systems, which over time contributed to roof leaks and water intrusion. The City is addressing these issues head-on through a focused, strategic remediation and modernization plan.
Since November 2024, the City has worked with BELFOR Property Restoration, a nationally recognized building remediation expert, and The Mold Inspector, an independent testing contractor, to conduct extensive air and surface sampling throughout police headquarters. Findings confirm the building is safe for employees and the public. BELFOR determined the building can remain occupied during remediation, with only temporary relocations needed for areas undergoing active work.
“Safety is our top priority,” said Mayor Keith A. James. “We have a clear plan in place to remediate the building, resolve long-standing maintenance challenges, and make critical upgrades that will extend the life of the police headquarters. This is an investment in our officers, our facilities, and the future of public safety in West Palm Beach.”
