City Hall, the Mandel Public Library, Grassy Waters Nature Center will be closed Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28, for the Thanksgiving Holiday. The Library will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. YES. The building remains safe for employees and the public, based on extensive independent testing conducted over the past year.
NO. Independent contractor BELFOR Property Restoration (BELFOR), a leading expert in the area of building remediation, has determined that there are no conditions in the building that require it to be evacuated.
YES. BELFOR determined that the building is safe for occupation while remediation work in affected areas is being done. However, when the affected areas are being remediated, employees in those areas will be relocated to other areas in the building. Only spaces with normal air-quality readings are open and in use.
The building’s current condition is the result of deferred maintenance and postponed upgrades to its roof and HVAC systems, which over time contributed to roof leaks and water intrusion. The City is addressing these issues head-on through a focused, strategic remediation and modernization plan.
Removal of impacted materials, cleaning of surfaces and follow up air and surface testing to confirm remediation efforts were successful. Affected walls, ceiling tiles and flooring may also be replaced.
YES. The project timeline & progress is as follows: Completed Work: • October 2025: HVAC valve repairs completed. • November 2025: Sealing of the building’s roof to prevent future leaks from developing completed.
Ongoing/Upcoming Work: • Continued remediation and reconstruction of affected areas. • HVAC upgrades, including UV sanitation technology to maintain high air quality. • Waterproofing, exterior repairs, and painting the building’s exterior. • Evaluation of Gun Range repairs and upgrades.
The goal is for all repairs to be completed by August 2026.

Therefore, as recommended by Belfor, this Administration is making this $6M investment to bring the current Police building to an optimal condition for its continued long-term future use.
