City Hall, Mandel Public Library, Grassy Waters to Close in Observance of Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples’ Day
WEST PALM BEACH, FL – West Palm Beach City Hall, the Mandel Public Library and the Grassy Waters Preserve Nature Center will be closed on Monday, Oct. 13, 2025, in observance of Columbus Day, also recognized as Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Regular trash and garbage pickup services will be provided on a regular schedule. City Hall and Grassy Waters will reopen at 8 a.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025; the Mandel Public Library will open at 9:30 a.m.
The City of West Palm Beach acknowledges and recognizes the second Monday in October as both Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Indigenous Peoples’ Day was first proposed by a delegation of Native Nations to the International Conference on Discrimination Against Indigenous Populations of the Americas in 1977.
