West Palm Beach Police Arrest Man for Online Threats
Against Command Staff, Officers, and Department Colleagues

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (June 11, 2025) — The West Palm Police Department has arrested 46-year-old Bryan Slater of Palm Beach Gardens in connection with an online threat made against members of the department’s command staff, officers, and professional staff.

On the evening of Friday, June 6, Slater posted a written threat online targeting the Chief of Police, Deputy Chief, Assistant Chief, a Major, and several Lieutenants and officers. The content of the post was threatening in nature and caused immediate concern for the safety of department personnel.

Slater was taken into custody and is now facing charges under Florida Statute 836.10 — written or electronic threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism. This is a second-degree felony in the state of Florida.

“This department takes threats of any kind against our officers very seriously,” said Deputy Chief Tony Shearer. “We have zero tolerance for anyone who attempts to intimidate or endanger law enforcement personnel, and those actions will not be ignored or excused.”

This case was investigated in collaboration with the State Attorney’s Office, whose partnership was instrumental in moving the case forward and ensuring appropriate legal action. The department appreciates the State Attorney’s swift response and continued support in this matter.

We also commend the officers and investigators who acted quickly and brought a suspect into custody within days of the threat being posted. Their dedication and professionalism reflect the department’s ongoing commitment to the safety of its members and the community.

No further details will be released at this time as the investigation remains active.
