WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (October 14, 2025) -- The West Palm Beach Police Department continues to actively investigate the recent officer-involved shooting. A comprehensive forensic review of the ballistic evidence recovered from the scene determined that Officer Carraballo was unintentionally struck by gunfire from an officer. Instances of friendly fire can occur during rapidly evolving and high-intensity situations.
These findings do not change the fact that Emmanuel McRae fired upon our officers. The criminal charges against McRae remain. He faces two counts of Attempted First-Degree Murder of a Law Enforcement Officer, pursuant to Florida State Statute 782.04(1)(a)(1).
This incident remains an active and ongoing investigation.
