WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (January 12, 2026) — The West Palm Beach Police Department is pleased to announce that Lt. Lori Colombino has been selected to attend the Police Leadership Academy (PLA), a highly competitive, five-month executive leadership program offered through the University of Chicago.
The PLA Police Commander Course is nationally recognized for developing future leaders in law enforcement, government, and public service. The program focuses on advanced leadership principles, including strategies for urban crime reduction, officer wellness, department-wide communication, leading for the future, and strengthening police-community relationships.
“This achievement speaks to the collective effort, professionalism, and commitment of our department,” said Deputy Chief of Police Tony Shearer. “Lieutenant Colombino’s participation in this program represents the continued progress we are making as a department, and our shared commitment to preparing leaders who will carry that momentum into the future.”
Lt. Colombino was selected from a highly competitive pool of several hundred applicants. Less than 40 candidates are chosen to participate in each of the academy’s three annual sessions.
The West Palm Beach Police Department intends to leverage best practices to strengthen its future leadership and organizational excellence.
