New Improvements Announced for Grassy Waters Preserve Wilderness Trail System
Trail Improvements include new roadway and parking
WEST PALM BEACH, FL — New roadway and parking improvements are planned for the Grassy Waters Preserve Apoxee (AH-POE-HEE) Wilderness Trail to improve the visitor experience. Apoxee is one of five wilderness trails within the 23-square-mile wetlands Preserve, along with the Cypress Boardwalk, Hog Hammock, Eagle, and Owahee. The Preserve serves as the freshwater supply for the City of West Palm Beach, Palm Beach, and South Palm Beach.
The trail entrance, ADA loop trail, and parking facilities at 3125 Jog Road are being resurfaced with a tentative start date of Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024. The 2.5-mile hiking trail entrance is on the west side of Jog Road, one mile north of Okeechobee Boulevard. Construction is expected to continue through November 2024.
This natural soil substrate trail will remain closed while surface improvements are underway.
